How we know Conductor Sam can help
The latest chapter in the Conductor Sam story began on an EC train heading towards Prague from Dresden. I was in the midst of taking videos out of the window to showcase the stunning journey by the River Elbe, when I picked up a message to say that Sam was ready for testing.
How we got there was that I had already taken over 350 journeys with Interrail passes and spent weeks planning each trip. When it was suggested that AI tech could help me and everybody else who purchases Eurail and Interrail passes, I wasn't convinced.
I was on a Czech train travelling through Germany en route to Hungary, I had a first class pass and had gambled on not making a reservation, as it wasn't mandatory. Plenty of seats were available when I boarded, but 2nd class was a total contrast with people having to sit on the floor in the corridor. I had thought 'How would AI ever know what I was experiencing and be able to share that with others'?
I was wrong.
Sam finds answers to questions such as "Should I reserve when using a 2nd class pass on a train from Germany to Prague?", because it has been targeted at the latest, most accurate and most relevant info. Thousands of references and mentions of European train services, stations, routes and rail pass usage are scanned and filtered.
More than a 1000 test questions have been asked and graded, so that Sam now has a better idea of what an excellent answer looks like. The testing has been carried out by someone who has travelled to more than 160 locations with a pass. Behind the scenes resources, such as the current rail pass reservation costs have been put in place to ensure accuracy. Because we know what matters.
Sam passed with a 99.2% score, because despite being perfectionists, we have had to accept that Conductor Sam won't ever quite get to 100%.
